Lena Rachel Farr Russell

Screen Shot 2015-11-16 at 7.11.50 AMLena Rachel Farr Russell, age 90, died Saturday, November 14, 2015 at the High Plains Retirement Village in Lakin, Kansas. She was born on April 30, 1925 in Logan County, Kansas the daughter of James Wiey and Ida Elizabeth Patton Farr.

She was a member of the Baptist Faith and a member of the Scott City Community until 2006.

On Feb 6, 1941 she married Orval E. Russell in Campus, Kansas. He died on May 7, 2001.

Survivors include four children; Richard Russell of Holcomb, Kansas; Roberta LeClair of Garden City, Kansas; Roger Russell of Pennsylvania; Monica Schwab of Maryland; 16 grandchildren, and 20 Great Grandchildren.

Lena was preceded in death by one daughter, Barbara Green; one son, Myron Russell; three grandsons; one Great grandson; six sisters; five brothers.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at Price and Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.

Open Calling hours will be from 1:30-8:00 p.m. Monday and 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Price and Sons Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas and from 10:00 – Noon at Price and Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.

Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lena Russell Memorial Fund.

Screen Shot 2015-11-16 at 7.14.21 AMCheryl Jean Finnesy, age 68, of Liberty, MO passed away Thursday, November 12, 2015 at the Liberty Hospital in Liberty, MO. She was born September 4, 1947 in Logan, KS to Walter Henry and Georgine (Bittel) Schurz. She graduated from Logan High School in 1965. She married Rick Finnesy on August 27, 1981 in Las Vegas.

She was a secretary by trade having worked in Hays and then in Liberty for the Liberty Public School System until her retirement. Cheryl was an avid reader and she enjoyed puzzles and embroidery but she was mostly a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband, Rick of Liberty; her children, Cherisa Herrman (Wade) of Liberty, MO and Shad Post (Lori) of Hays; her step children, Chris Finnesy (Nori) of Japan, Paula Thaxton (Travis) of Owasso, OK and Terry Finnesy (Lynn) of Plainville, KS; five brothers, Fred (Linda) Schurz of Salina, Rick (Rhonda) Schurz of Logan, Bob (Sheila) Schurz of Basehor, Hank (Linda) Schurz of Phillipsburg and Shannon (Joan) Schurz of Speed; two sisters, Dena (Kenneth) Vehige of Hays and Connie (D.D.) Breese of Quinter; grandchildren, Josh Post of Phoenix, Alyssa Moeder of Hays, Ryan Post of Hays, Mackenzie Herrman and Conner Herrman of Liberty; step grandchildren, Destiny and Foster Thaxton of Owasso, and Brunson and Kaiya Finnesy of Plainville and two great grandchildren, Mayci and Brooke Moeder of Hays.

She was preceded in death by her parents a brother, David Schurz and a sister Myra Schurz.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Monday at St. John’s Catholic Church in Logan, KS with visitation at 9 am until service time. Burial will follow in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Logan.

Visitation will be Sunday 5 PM – 8 PM with a parish vigil and rosary service at 6:30 PM all at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.

Screen Shot 2015-11-16 at 7.15.07 AMRoy Chester Binder, age 37, of Hays, passed away Sunday, November 1, 2015 in Hays. He was born February 11, 1978 in Hays to Robert Roy and Carol Marie (Harwood) Binder.

He was a truck driver by trade and did home remodeling. He was an avid outdoorsman who especially enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his children, Tae, Tekell and Aspen Binder all of Clay Center, Nebraska, his sisters, Denise Thrasher of Rocky Mount, VA, Rita Campbell of Hays, Roxie Sioros of Littleton, CO, Oletha Smith of Hays and Crystal Binder of Colby; and his girlfriend , Jamie McDonald of Hays.

Memorial services will be at 3 PM on Friday, November 20, 2015 at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.

Otto ‘Butch’ Stephen Schutte Jr.

Otto “Butch” Stephen Schutte Jr., 66, of Colby, died Saturday, Nov 14, 2015. He was born June 1, 1949 to Otto Sr. and Dorothy (Ottoburn) Schutte, in Hastings, NE. He married Roberta Williams on July 20, 1986 in Colby. Butch worked as a bricklayer and enjoyed fishing and camping. He also liked to cook, particularly grilling or smoking foods.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Vincent and sister, Daisy Dickinson.

He is survived by wife, Roberta; six sons, Timothy Schutte, of Larned, Alva Schutte, of Hoxie, Michael Schutte, of Hoxie, Roy Williams, of Colby, Billy (Ashley) Turner, of Colby and Otto (Holly) Schutte III, of Colby; three Daughters, Tonya Schutte, Christian (Gerry) Gardner, of Fort Lupton, CO and Rosemary (Rick) Rhan, of Albert; 25 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Richard Lee Bisterfeldt

Recently, the world bid a very sad farewell to a favorite Son, Dad, Brother, Friend, Mentor, and one heck of a Drummer. It was with great sadness that the family and friends of Richard Lee Bisterfeldt said good-bye to him on September 22, 2015.

He was the first born and only son, of Leland and Delores (Krause) Bisterfeldt, arriving on this good earth on September 4, 1947. He attended LaCrosse High School. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications (Radio and Television Production), at Fort Hays State College, in 1972.

On June 7, 1972, he married his first wife, Jacqueline (Herl) Bisterfeldt, currently of Las Vegas Nevada. To that union arrived two cherished daughters, Nicole Bisterfeldt-Rainey, LaCrosse, Kansas and Danielle Bisterfeldt, Las Vegas, Nevada. He had one beloved Granddaughter, Madilynn Rainey, LaCrosse, Kansas.
On April 24, 1999, he married his second wife, Elisa Beerbohm.

He was a professional Drummer who toured with numerous musical entertainment groups in Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and California; The Mel Herl Combo, The Blue Things, The Raging Regattas, Fyre, and James Lee Band. The bands The Blue Things, Fyre, and James Lee Band were featured in major recording product releases and received mentions in key recording industry publications such as Billboard magazine.

He was a long standing member of Broadcast Music, Inc., (BMI), The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), the Country Music Association (CMA), Association of Country Music (ACM), Percussive Arts Society (PAS), National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM), and the Fort Hays State University Alumni Association.

He is survived by his wife, Elisa, Broomfield, Colorado, Dad, Leland Bisterfeldt, LaCrosse, Kansas, his sister, Melanie (and Irvin) Schaffer, Mountain Home, Arkansas, his sister, Jann Bisterfeldt (and Michael Suchan), Anaheim Hills, California, his daughters, Nicole Bisterfeldt – (and Aaron) Rainey and Danielle Bisterfeldt, and his Granddaughter, Madilynn Rainey.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Delores (Krause) Bisterfeldt, Maternal Grandmother, Elva (Irvin, Krause) Warnock, Maternal Grandfather, Fred Krause, Paternal Grandmother, Rosa (Appel) Bisterfeldt, and Paternal Grandfather, Ben Bisterfeldt.

Della Marie Neill 001Della Marie “Rocky” Neill, 87, Hays, formerly of Tyler, Texas, died Monday, November 2, 2015 at the Hays Good Samaritan Society.

She was born November 21, 1927 in Washington County, Texas the daughter of Gustav and Laura (Jaster) Rachui. On December 21, 1949 she married Walter Lamar Neill in Austin, TX. He died in 1992.

She was a Registered Nurse and did private duty nursing and hospital nursing. She was a member of Pollard United Methodist Church and was a friend of First United Methodist Church in Hays.

Survivors include a daughter, Gail Kuehl and husband Richard of Hays, Kansas, five grandchildren; Matthew Kuehl of NY, NY, Robert J. Kuehl and wife Rebecca of Hays, and James R. Kuehl and wife Kelsey of Dodge City, KS, Jonathan J. Neill of Dallas, and Mary C. Neill of Tyler, TX, five great grandchildren; Lexi Burton, Aiden Burton, Jackson J. Kuehl, Ryleigh J. Kuehl, and Jayma R. Kuehl.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sons, Jay L. Neill and Robert L. “Bobby” Neill.

Memorial services will be at 5:00 pm on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until service time.

Sharon Obit PhotoSharon Kay Geist, 66, died on November 15, 2015 at Via Christi Village, Hays, Kansas.

Sharon was born November 3, 1949 to Bill and Anna (Weber) Geist and graduated from Ellis High School. She attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, majoring in Family History Genealogy.

While employed at the American Embassy in Bonn, West Germany, Sharon taught Sunday school and was president of the Women’s Intercollegiate Bowling Congress. Her love of genealogy earned her a write up in Enron People during her employment at Enron Corp. Sharon was constantly sharing her knowledge of genealogy, including conducting classes at Hill Community College in Glen Rose, Texas.
Sharon’s volunteer roles included president of the Friends of the Tomball Library, chair and co-chair of the Enron Recycling Fair, working with various animal rescue groups, and fostering rescue dogs. She also volunteered for FindAGrave.com where she added 2,504 memorials and 87 photos to their web site, as well as 90,994 records to the Ancestry World Archive Project. Sharon retired from the City of Cleburne Cemeteries and was a member of the Texas Cemeteries Association. Sharon was an avid reader and enjoyed quilting, counted cross-stitch, embroidery, crocheting and ceramics.

Sharon is survived by her beloved dog, Halo. Sharon was grateful to friends and relatives who were there for her in her time of need, and was especially thankful for Halo’s new “forever” family. God bless you all.

Private services were held at The Basilica of St. Fidelis with burial in St. Fidelis Catholic Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas.

Wilma J. Hoover

Wilma HooverWilma J. Hoover, 86, Hays, died Monday, November 16, 2015 at the Hays Medical Center.

She was born August 31, 1929 in Hays the daughter of Adam F. and Anna C. (Wolf) Rupp. She graduated from Girl’s Catholic High School in 1947. On January 21, 1950 she married Herbert C. Hoover in Hays. They celebrated 64 years of marriage before he died July 6, 2014.

In 1993, she went college at Fort Hays State University and received her BS degree in Nursing. She was secretary/treasurer of Rupp’s Inc. and retired as an RN at Hays Good Samaritan Center. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and Epsilon Sigma Alpha. She was a phenomenal mother while raising a big family and she was a tremendous cook. She was the family caregiver, very loving and giving of her time and talent, and was known for her sense of humor. She was involved with the PTA for many years and also sang in a women’s barbershop quartet and in church choirs.

Survivors include two sons; Don Hoover and wife H. Jolene and Fred Hoover, all of Hays, five daughters; Mary Metz and husband Bill of Berryton, KS, Carol Neihardt and husband Nelson of Eudora, Connie Sheldon and Sue Ihde and husband Bob, all of Hays, and Janet Kuhn and husband Ed of Walker, Kansas, eleven grandchildren; Alisa Caruthers, Roy Herman, Travis Neihardt, Adam Sheldon, Thomas Zimmerman, Holden Hoover, Traci Dougherty, Brenna Sherlock, Theresa Griffith, Anna Zimmerman, and Madison Hoover, nine great grandchildren; Alex Caruthers, Jillyan Sheldon, Taylor Dougherty, Kooper Sherlock, McKenzi Hoover, Justice Autry, Jerome Autry, Gus Griffith, and Titus Griffith.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two great grandsons; Xavier and Brixton Zimmerman.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1805 Vine Street, Hays. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm until 8:00 on Friday and from 9:30 am until 10:15 on Saturday, all at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine St. A parish vigil service will be at 6:30 pm on Friday at the funeral home.

Dumler,KristinawhitedressovalKristina Diane Dumler, 55, of Gorham, Kansas, died on Friday, November 13, 2015, at the Salina Regional Hospital in Salina, Kansas.

Kristina was born on January 06, 1960, in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Troy and Roz (Yost) Thomas. She grew up in the Russell area, attended Russell Schools and graduated from Russell High School in the class of 1978. After high school she attended Fort Hays State University for a couple of years.

Later she married Keith Wagner on June 20, 1981 in Russell, Kansas. From this union, they were blessed with two sons Tyler and Jordan. Kris and Keith’s marriage ended in divorce, but Kris found love again. She was united in marriage to Mark L. “Shorty” Dumler on August 24, 1999 in Russell. Kris lived in Kansas her whole life, living in Kinsley, Dodge City, Hays, Russell and to Gorham in her final years.

Kris had several jobs throughout her life but is mostly know as the former owner/operator and head cook of the Russell’s Inn Restaurant in Russell, Kansas. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking, caring for animals, being on the farm and spending time with family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving family include her sons Tyler Wagner and wife Kim of Gorham, Kansas and Jordan Wagner and wife Jen of Wilson, Kansas; step daughter Tracial Dumler in Hutchinson, Kansas; brothers Troy Lee Thomas of North Dakota and Tim Zellner of Denver, Colorado; sister Patty Anderson of Strong City, Kansas; 4 grandchidlren Ryleigh, Taylar, Taytn and Jaxson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Mark Dumler and ex husband Keith Wagner; sisters Billie Jean Pyles.

A celebration of Kristina’s life will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday, November 20, 2015, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell with Pastor Roger Dennis officiating. Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the mortuary. Family will greet guests from 9 A.M. to service time (11 A.M.) Friday morning November 20th.

Memorials can be given to the Kris Dumler Grandchildren’s Fund and can be sent to the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.

William Stanley ‘Bill’ Naylor

William Stanley “Bill” Naylor, 70, of Natoma, Kansas, died on Sunday, November 15, 2015, at his home in Natoma.

Bill was born on March 26, 1945, in Russell, Kansas, the son of Alfred W. and Ruby A. (Clark) Naylor. He grew up on the family farm just East of Natoma and attended Natoma Public Schools. He graduated from Natoma High School in the class of 1963.

After high school he studied music and attended Ft. Hays State University for a year. He was good at working with his hands and developed his skills working in the auto paint and body industry. He lived in several places throughout his life such as San Diego, California, Sharon Springs, Kansas and Lucas, Kansas. It was in Lucas that he owned and operated Lucas Paint and Body for many years. He also worked a short in the oil industry as well as farming. He enjoyed farming, boating on lake Wilson, hunting dove and pheasant and especially enjoyed gold prospecting with his brother Larry. Most of all he enjoyed spending time outdoor and with his family.

Surviving family include his brother Larry Naylor of Natoma; sisters Rosalie Schmidtberger of Marion, Kansas, Freda Bauer of San Diego, California and JoAn Hale and husband Alan of Norton, Kansas; and 9 Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister and 1 nephew.

A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, November19, 2015, at the Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary in Russell, Kansas with Alan Hale officiating. Cremation has preceded the service and burial of the ashes will take place at a later time. Visitation will be from 9 A.M. to 8 P.M. on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at the mortuary with family present to greet guests from 6 P.M. to 7 P.M. Wednesday evening.

Memorials may be given to the Natoma Public School and sent in care of the mortuary. Pohlman-Varner-Peeler Mortuary of Russell is in charge of the funeral service arrangements.

Gloria McCormickGloria Ann McCormick, 70, Hays, died Sunday, November 15, 2015 at her home.

She was born July 17, 1945 in Hays the daughter of Pete J. and Evelyn (Scheck) Scheck. On November 28, 1964 she married Kenny L. McCormick in Great Bend.

She graduated from Great Bend High School, Emporia Teachers College with a BS degree in education and from Fort Hays State University with a MS degree in special education. She was an elementary school teacher for three years after graduating from Emporia Teachers College and later spent 20 years serving the special needs of her special education students at the High School level. These were her special loves that she nurtured to productive adults. 

She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, and was a member of LDA throughout her career. She enjoyed bible study groups, intellectual confrontations about anything, crafts, and decorating. Cleaning house was the joy of her life, but not cooking.

She is survived by her husband, of the home in Hays, a son Craig McCormick and wife Lisa of Hays, three daughters; Candy Jones and Michelle Kirkpatrick, both of Plainville, and Dawn McCormick of Hays, a brother Larry Dean of California, seven grandchildren; Cody Jones,  Kyle Jones, Brennon Kirkpatrick, Lili Griffith, Bri Griffith, Skyler McCormick, and Ryder McCormick.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Betty Brown.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1805 Vine Street, Hays.  Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 pm and on Thursday from 9:00 am until 9:45, all at the Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 1906 Pine St. A Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 6:30 pm followed by a Parish Vigil service at 7:00, all on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Thomas ‘Tom’ William Runge

Thomas “Tom” William Runge, age 63, of Hays, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Hays Medical Center. He was born August 6, 1952 in Hebron, Nebraska to William “Bill” and Gwen (Thompson) Runge. He attended school in Arkansas City, Kansas and Concordia, Kansas graduating from Concordia High School in 1970. He graduated from Fort Hays State University in 1981 with a Bachelors and Masters in Clinical Psychology. He married Vicki (Schauvliege) December 8, 1979 in Hays, Kansas.

Tom was a US Marine veteran serving in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharges as a Sergeant in 1977. He worked as a Clinical Psychologist at Larned State Hospital and High Plains Mental Health Center and most recently Forensic Evaluation Services as a Consultant with Northwest Kansas Community Corrections. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays, Knights of Columbus, Hays VFW, and he was previously active in a variety of roles with the local ARC as well as various state and local professional organizations.

He is survived by his wife, Vicki of the home; a daughter, Rebecca “Becca” Green and husband, Alex and granddaughters Jocelyn and Lorelei all of Hays, two sons, Sean Stacey and wife , Malindi and grandchildren, Madeline, Jude, and Olive Stacey all of Baldwin City, Kansas, and Chris Stacey of Hays; a sister, Cindy Runge of Emporia; two brothers, Mark Runge and wife Cathy of Emporia, and Bob Runge and wife Joanna of Newton; father-in-law, Mike Rupp of Hays, brother-in-law’s, Mike Schauvliege of Walker and Tim Rupp of Hays; a sister-in-law, Dr. Jennifer Rupp and husband Dr. Gus Hallin of Durango, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Albert and Alvera Thompson and Frank and Fredricka Runge; mother-in-law, Mickey Rupp and a brother-in-law, Chuck Schauvliege.

Funeral services will be 10 am Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hays with inurnment to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery with Military Honors by the Hays VFW Honor Guard.

Visitation will be Tuesday 6 pm – 8 pm with a parish vigil service at 7 pm all at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601.

Victoria, Kansas – Ludmilla “Millie” (Werth) age 79, died Monday, November 16, 2015, at Hays Medical Center.

She was born September 23, 1936, on the farm northwest of Schoenchen, Kansas to Sylvester and Theresa (Pfannenstiel) Werth. She married Elmer A. Dinkel on June 15, 1954 at Schoenchen, Kansas.

Millie was a homemaker and a farmer’s wife. She worked 13 years at Travenol Labs, seven years at Hays International Mailing and a few years at Adronics-Elrob Manufacturing.

She was a member of the Basilica of St. Fidelis and was a volunteer on the St. Fidelis Funeral Committee.

Survivors include her husband, Elmer A. Dinkel, of the home; two sons, Robert F. She was preceded in death by her parents and one great granddaughter, Madison Dinkel.

Services are 10:00 A.M. Friday, November 20, 2015, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis Victoria, Kansas. Burial in St. Fidelis Cemetery Victoria, Kansas.

A vigil service is at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, at Cline’s Mortuary, 412 Main Street, Victoria, Kansas 67671.

Visitation is from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. Thursday, and from 8:30 to 9:45 A.M. Friday, all at Cline’s Mortuary Victoria, Kansas.

564ba2850752bChristine Marie Billinger, age 93, of Hays passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Hays Medical Center. She was born November, 2, 1922 in Hyacinth, Kansas to Alex and Barbara (Sander) Rupp. She married Alvin A. “Al” Billinger on April 5, 1943 in Hays. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2002.

She was a homemaker and had worked as a waitress at the VFW, The Coachman and The Rose Room, she had been a manager of a convenience store and was a secretary for Gary Eller Insurance Company. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and she enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends.

She is survived by three sons, Alan Billinger and wife Carrie of Hays, Steve Billinger of Casper, Wyoming and Greg Billinger and wife Jolene of Bakersfield, California; a daughter, Roxie VonLintel and husband Hank of Victoria, Kansas; 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Al; a son, Douglas Billinger, six brothers, Wendelin, Celestine, Alex, Al, Alfred and Elmer Rupp; five sisters, Georgine Peters, Olive Macintosh, Eleanora Peters, Mary Ellis and Alma Girado.

Funeral services will be 10 am Saturday, November 21, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with burial to follow in St. Joseph’s cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, November 20, 2015 5 pm – 8 pm and Saturday 9 am – 9:30 am all at Brock’s-Keithley Funeral Chapel and Crematory 2509 Vine Hays, KS 67601

A rosary and vigil service will be 6:30 pm Friday at the Funeral Home.

Marjorie L. Disney, age 90, of Hays passed away Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Via Christi Village, Hays. She was born May 14, 1925 in Revere, MA. to Herbert and Louise (Vesper) Bradshaw. She worked as a Registered Nurse.

She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Walters and husband Greg of Hays; a son, Mark Wheeler and wife Ginger of Tallahassee, FL; and three grandchildren, Bailey Wheeler, Brian Wheeler and wife Laura and Aislinn Walters.

Cremation has been chosen with private family services to be held at a later date.

Robert Marye- PictureHays, Kansas – Robert B. Marye, age 73, died Sunday, November 15, 2015, at the Volga Street DSNWK home in Hays, Kansas.

He was born August 31, 1942, in Baltimore, Maryland to Robert Brooks and Irma Ruth (Wisnom) Marye Sr.
He lived at a care facility in Baltimore, Maryland before moving to Parsons State Hospital at the age of eleven.

In 1973 he moved to Hays and entered services at Homer B. Reed Training Center. He moved to DSNWK’s Eight Street Home at Victoria in 1992 where he spent his remaining years of life before falling ill.
He worked as an assembler for a Flex King contract, a material handler for Stromgren-Scott and in 1987 he began participating in the Life Management Program at Reed Developmental Center enjoying a more relaxing environment for those person desiring to retire from work.

He enjoyed fishing, bowling, putting together Lego/puzzle pieces, drinking coffee, watching the news, especially during elections years, the Christmas holidays, going to sports events, his favorite teams were the Baltimore Ravens and the Denver Bronco’s and spending time with his gardians, the Strecker family.
Survivors include his gaudians, Phillyis Strecker, Hays, KS; and the late Forrest Strecker; his cousin Marie Sasse, Baltimore, MD and his DSNWK family and staff.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Barbara.

Services are 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 20, 2015, at Cline’s Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.

His guardian family will receive friends from 9:00 to 11:00 A.M. Friday, at Cline’s Mortuary of Hays. A private inurnment will be held at a later date.

She was born on January 7, 1930 in Scott City, Kansas, the daughter of John and Hilda Koch Wiechman. She was a resident of Scott City, Kansas from 1930 until 1954 moving to North Dakota and then back to Scott City in 1970. She was a homemaker.

Memberships include the Holy Cross Lutheran Church and the VFW Auxiliary both of Scott City.

On December 31, 1949 she married Elmer Erskin in Scott City, Kansas. He survives.

Survivors include her Husband – Elmer Erskin of Scott City, Kansas, One Son – Harold & Susan Erskin of Mulvane, Kansas, Three Daughters – Sandra & Rick Kahl of Scott City, Kansas, Shirley & Dan Rogers of Valley Center, Kansas, Sharon & David Powers of Scott City, Kansas, Two Brothers – Gerald & Joyce Wiechman of Scott City, Kansas, Donald & Marlo Wiechman of Scott City, Kansas, Two Sisters – Lavera King of Scott City, Kansas, Velda & Milt Riddiough of Scott City, Kansas, Nine Grandchildren and Eighteen Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by Two Brothers – Marvin Wiechman and Martin Wiechman and One Sister – Geneva Faurot.

Funeral Services will be held at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Scott City, Kansas at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2015 with Pastor Warren Prochnow presiding.

Memorials may be given to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church or Park Lane Nursing Home % Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.

Interment will be in the Scott County Cemetery in Scott City, Kansas.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Price & Sons Funeral Home in Scott City, Kansas.
