Mary M. “Madge” Thomasson, 100, Hays, died Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Via Christi Villages.
She was born May 7, 1914 in Burns City, TX the daughter of Henry and Caroline (Autzen) Schmitz. She was a great cook and homemaker. On March 4, 1935 she married Joseph “Joe” Thomasson in Gainsville, Texas. He died June 29, 1990.
She loved to cook, and her family loved her homemade vegetable soup. She enjoyed rug hooking, playing games, and playing cards with her family and friends. She was a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hays.
Survivors include three sons, Michael J. Thomasson of Olathe, Joseph R. Thomasson of Hays, and Paul A. Thomasson of Longview, WA, two daughters, Mary Joan Thomasson Loe of The Villages, FL, and Margaret L. Brungardt of Wichita Falls, TX, sixteen grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren and twenty two great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Donald Joseph Thomasson, a daughter Caroline Thomasson, a granddaughter Rhonda Joan Loe and three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at the St. John’s Chapel at Via Christi Villages. Inurnment will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 until service time on Tuesday at St. John’s Chapel.
