Leo J. Wellbrock
Hays, Kansas – Leo J. Wellbrock – age 80, died Tuesday, November 5,
2013, at his home in Hays, Kansas.
He was born August 31, 1933, in Catherine, Kansas, to Louis and Louise
(Leikam) Wellbrock. He married Kay (Hatfield) on August 16, 1952, in
Wichita, Kansas.
He worked for the City of Hays as the Director of Public Works for 42
years. He was a 1952 graduate of St. Joseph Military School and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church both of Hays, Kansas. He
enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, spending time with his family
and the grandchildren’s sports.
Survivors include his wife, Kay Wellbrock, of the home; one son, Steve
Wellbrock and wife, Jolene, Hays, KS; four daughters, Pam Whitham and
husband, David, Broken Arrow, OK; Kelly Heifner and husband, Jim, Sandy
Seems, and Tina Dix and husband, Doug, all of Hays, KS; one brother,
Richard “Dick” Wellbrock and wife, Kim, Hays, KS; one sister, Mary
Wellbrock, Broken Arrow, OK; one sister-in-law, Maxine Wellbrock, Hays, KS; 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Louis Wellbrock
> Jr., two sons, Gary Wellbrock and Wayne Wellbrock.
> Services are 10:00 A.M. Saturday, November 9, 2013, at Immaculate
> Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 1805 Vine Street, Hays, Kansas. Burial in
> St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays, Kansas.
> A vigil service is at 6:30 P.M. Friday, at Cline’s Mortuary of Hays,
> 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601.
> Visitation is from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, and from 8:30 to 9:45
> A.M. Saturday, all at Cline’s Mortuary of Hays.
> Memorial to Hospice of Hays Medical or St. Jude Childrens Research
> Hospital.
