Joan Marie Roths

Joan Marie Roths, age 88, died on Friday, November 10, 2017 at the Rhode Island Suites, Ransom. She was born on October 26, 1929 in Ransom, Kansas the daughter of Joseph and Mary Kraus Hilmes.

On June 13, 1950 she married Norbert “Jake” Roths in Ransom, Kansas. He survives.

She was a homemaker and worked at the Grisell Memorial Hospital in the housekeeping department for ten years. She was a member of the St. Aloysius Church and the Altar Society. She graduated from the Ransom High school in 1948.

Joan is survived by her husband, Jake; one son, Alan Roths and his wife Cindy of Ransom; three daughters, Mary Ann Davis and her husband Les of Scott City, Carol Walker and her husband Jim of Ransom, and Diane Reddig and her husband Dave of Manhattan; two brothers, James Hilmes and his wife Mary of Hays and Ralph Hilmes and his wife Rita of Montrose, Colorado; one sister, Arlene Roths of Benton; a sister-in-law, Donna Hilmes-Hurn of Topeka, and a brother-in-law, Tom Stoecklein of Ness City; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Steven and Tom Roths; a brother, Gerald Hilmes; a sister, Virginia Stoecklein; a brother-in-law, Howard Roths; and a great grandson, Jacoby Cool.

Mass of Christian burial will be on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at the St. Aloysius Church, Ransom followed by burial in the St. Aloysius Cemetery, Ransom. Parish Vigil will be at the church on Monday at 6:30 p.m. Viewing will be at Fitzgerald Funeral Home on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m..

Memorial contributions may be given to St. Aloysius Church, Rhode Island Suites, and Masses.
