Sharon Katherine (Schmidtberger) Urban, 63, died Friday, August 1st, 2014, at her farm home near Loretto, KS after a lengthy illness.

She was born on May 10th, 1951, at St. Anthony Hospital, Hays, KS to Ike and Albertina (Sander) Schmidtberger.

She grew up in Victoria and had a wonderful childhood with her family, cousins and neighborhood friends.  She attended daily mass at St. Fidelis Church.

She graduated from Victoria Grade and High Schools.  She was an early female in the field of computing and graduated from college in Wichita, KS. She moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area in 1970, with two sisters. She worked at JC Penney, Stark Taylor Cotton Company, whose owner later became the mayor of the City of Dallas, Toyo Cotton Company and Ross Perots’ Electronic Data Systems.

She married Don J. Urban on November 26th, 1983, at Victoria.  After marriage, she worked with computers at Fort Hays State University until the birth of her second child.  She was an active farmer and farmer’s wife, and later became president of a small construction business and lived on their farm north of Bison by Loretto, KS.  Her life long dream was to live on a farm.  She and her large family sang in the church choir. She was a member of Singerbund and a member of St. Joseph’s Church of Liebenthal and St. Mary’s Church of Loretto, KS.

She is survived by her husband, Don, of the home; two sons, Matthew and Seth, Loretto, KS; twelve brothers and sisters: Verlin (JoAnn), Salina, KS; Connie Jimenez, Hurst, TX; Alice (Don) Peterka, Wilson, KS; Clara (Tom) Walters, Catherine, KS; Joanne Detwiler, Olathe, KS; Arlene (Bill) Delka, Guide Rock, NE; Mary Ann Schmidtberger; Ike (Betty), Newton, KS; Richard (Deborah), Newton, KS; Larry, Victoria, KS; Dianne (Coy) Blumenthal, Bladen, NE; and Cathy Schmidtberger (Robert Lang-significant other), Bedford, TX; sister-in-law, Patricia Urban, Middlesex, NJ; many nieces and nephews, as well as great nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her father and mother-in-law, John and Anna Urban; a brother-in-law, Dennis Urban; and a sister-in-law, Diane Urban.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis Victoria, Kansas.  A private family inurnment will be held at later date.

A vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, followed by a family rosary at the Basilica of St. Fidelis.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday, and from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. Saturday, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis Victoria, Kansas.
